Under the National Warehousing Policy ''The Agricultural Produce (Development and
Warehousing) Corporations Act 1956" was established by State Government in 1958.
Repealing it, later this act became famous as ''The Warehousing Corporations Act
1962''. The State Government and the Central Warehousing Corporation are share holders
of this corporation.
Under the provisions of The Warehousing Corporations Act 1962, this corporation
can work as the agent for sales, purchase and storage of agricultural yields, seeds,
foods, fertilizers, agricultural equipment and other notified goods on behalf of
any government company or Indian Parliament or any statutory body established by
State Legislature.
ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE
Approved posts under the administrative structure of corporation organization on
headquarters level are Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director, Secretary, General
Manager, Manager, Deputy Manager etc.. 13 Regional Office and 157 Warehouse are
active on Regional Office level. Regional Manager and other staffs are posted in
every Regional Office and Warehouse Incharge and other staffs are posted at Warehouses. Among these warehouses, 137 are self-built, 10 are rented and 35 are PEG warehouses.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITY
- Arrangement for storage of notified commodities and operation of Krishak Prasar Yojana and Pesticide Yojana.
- Scientific Warehousing of 182 warehouses.
- 10 and 30 percent discount in storage charges to cooperative institutions and farmers respectively.
- On 28 February 2025, the corporation's self-made capacity is 26.96 lakh MT and rented and PEG capacity is 14.84 lakh MT and total storage capacity is 41.80 lakh MT.
MANAGEMENT
Management and general observation of the corporation is vested in the Board of
Directors. Five Directors are nominated by Central Warehousing Corporation in the
Board of Director from which nomination of one Director on the recommendation of
State Bank of India and at least one Director non-governmental has been provided.
Five Directors are nominated by State Government, from which one is being appointed
on the post of Chairman. Appointments of President and Managing Director by the
State Government have been provisioned under giving information to Central Warehousing
Corporation.
